im not using the same yarn, im using Bernatt softee baby, which is a sport/d.k yarn (because the person im knitting for wants pink and blue socks) ive done gauge. it seemed fine, but the 64 sts looks way too big when i was knitting which is why i stopped and got frustrated. help.
Check again over what you’ve knitted to make sure you’re getting 7 sts per inch. That’s what the gauge is and on 64 sts would be a skosh over 9" around, 4½" with the tube laid flat to measure. It could be your yarn is a little thicker than what’s used in the pattern. You might need to go down a needle size too.
28 stitches per inch is about fingering weight. Unless you resize the sock they’re going to be too large. Personally I’d look for a sock that is made for the yarn weight/gauge that you have.
