what's easier after binding off: extending a piece or shortening a piece?

I’m knitting a headband that has a triple cable pattern as a gift. I don’t know her head size and am wondering if I should err on the side of too big or on the side of too small (stop at a size that fits my big head tightly). What is the easier adjustment if the band doesn’t fit: rip back to tighten or add a section post bind-off?

For me shortening is easier. No need to pull out the needles, add in a new strand of yarn and knit some more. Not to mention, more ends to weave in.
