Rowan Cotton Glace’? im making a sweater for my friend’s little girl to come (yes, the same girl who is getting the felted diaper bag too!) but i dont want to spend the $40 for yarn. Has anyone substituted for this yarn? thanks everyone!
Whats a good substitute for:
Hove you tried Cottontots?
no, i never heard of it. where can it be found? you had a good experience with it?
Here is what it looks like. It is very soft and affordable. You should be able to find it at either Walmart, Joanns, or Michaels.
It is soft too, because it’s meant for babies and toddlers
thank you! it looks great and the colors are fantastic!
Ack… I just checked something. The gauge. the Rowans Cotton Glace is 5.5-6 stitches per inch on size 3-5 US needles, and the cottontots is around 4 to 5 stitches per inch on size 8 US needles.
That might be a problem, unless you adjust the pattern a little bit. :?
ugh, math. my worst trait.
the pattern calls for size 5 needles and 23sts/32 rows= 4 in. youre right about the rowan.
rowan: 5.75 stitches=1" so 23 stitches = 4" (size 5)
CT: 5 stitches = 1" so 20 stitches = 4" (size 8)
i may need to add 2 stitches per in. so ill have to change the pattern to add those stitches. the chest width = 24" cast on 70 stitches so would i really have to cast on 118? no, that cant be right.
How much yarn(yard wise), does the pattern call for??
4 MC = 500yd
1AC = 125yd
1AC = 125yd
Have you thought about Knitpicks Shine? Very affordable
wow! that looks great! thank you!
