What's a comparable yarn to Rowan Kid Classic?

This is my first post! And it’s a question, of course. I am a new knitter, but enjoying the heck out of it and doing decently so far. I don’t yet have a lot of yarn knowledge though, pretty much go with what’s called for or rec’d to me at the yarn store. I want to start a cute hat pattern in ‘Handknits for Kids’ (pg. 100 if you have the book) that uses Rowan Kid Classic, color 819, pink (like fuschia). That color is discontinued, but I really want the pink! How do I find a comparable yarn to use? I’m sure I’m making this harder than it needs to be.

TIA!

You can search by weight and/or fiber at www.yarndex.com Very useful site!

Yep, search at Yarndex. I looked for Worsted weight wool/mohair blends and found this from Plymouth yarns that might work http://www.yarndex.com/yarn.cfm?yarn_id=342 It is heavy worsted, though, so you might need to play with the gauge.

(This is also a situation where I’d walk into a good yarn shop with the pattern, explain what I was looking for and see what they could find. They can be a great help since they know what they have and what they can get.)

I know a lot of us hate this word, but we must all deal it anyway…

Thank you, ladies! I haven’t delved too far into online knitting resources, so I didn’t know about that site.

I did go to my yarn store this evening to knit some, and they pointed out a couple of things (but were also surprised the pink has been discontinued in the Rowan Kid Classic).
