Whatcha' Knitting? October, 2024

Perfectly worked garter stitch is a delight to see. The elegant button is a great finishing touch!

Thanks salmonmac. I really found doing this in black very monotonous!

I second that…I enjoy knitting something that’s either different colors or patterns that you need to work out to finish a piece.

Finally finished this Leksak sweater for my granddaughter. Lots of delays due to having to get additional ball of yarn due to some imperfections with a ball I already had. That was a nightmare in and of itself. But the knitting was pretty easy. I have finished another sweater and now that this one is off the blocking squares I can do the parts of the next sweater then sew together.

Beautiful sweater KnittingGigi, your granddaughter will enjoy it.

Worth all the extra effort for this lovely sweater!

Lovely result despite the annoying yarn problem.

What pattern did you use for this lovely piece? I would have asked earlier but that was before coffee.

Leksak tunic. I got it off ravelry. Sizes from newborn to 10yrs. I don’t know how to show the site on here.
Looking at the picture (after the fact) it looks big but my granddaughter just turned 10 and fits her fine. And she is on the small side for her age and very slender. It’s long enough to cover her bottom. Amazing how they become so opinionated at such a young age. As I say room to grow.

For future reference, when you bring up a Ravelry page, you can copy the URL in the bar at the very top of your browser, and then paste it here. This is very cute! I kinda wish it came in adult sizes…

Also the pattern showed 3/4 sleeve length but she wanted them long sleeve so I made that change

Thanks for finding the adult version. It would be something I would wear. Just never thought of it. I think this might be in my future.

Luxury Keyhole Scarf and KnitFreedom mittens finished in Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek. I wish there were more purple in the yarn!

The scarf calls for 143 lengthwise cast on and I cast on 263.

The mittens call for #7 needles. I had to go down to #3 to get gauge. I made the first mitten with #3 then the pair in #5. Both fit snugly. I also had to add NINE rows to the hand! Be sure to try them on as you go!

I knew the mittens would have large stripes and planned to work around that, but kept thinking a color block was almost finished. I reworked them using two skeins simultaneously and starting at different color sequences. I wish I’d been more scientific with that process! For now, I’m going with what I have. Not ready to make another mitten right now!

I have started another pair of socks for my daughter in Knit Picks Stoll in the color Serene a darker blue than Blue Sky. My youngest son just got back from Spain after being there 2 weeks for a job.

I added this to my favorites in Ravelry so I don’t forget. Need to finish up some other items before moving on with this and need to decide on yarn. I used Drops merino for my granddaughters version but was not happy with the quality. I loved the yarn but I ordered it off Amazon and several skeins were riddled with defects. So not sure if this was just a rare occurrence or was it a “second” item because I got off Amazon. Not sure. I’ve ordered other yarn off Amazon and never had any issues. So I will have to ponder this.

I go on Amazon to find a yarn I might like, but then usually order it directly from the shop mentioned. I find there’s usually better customer service that way, if there’s an issue with the yarn.
