The “joinery” pattern (link earlier in this thread) is also all straight needles. It’s a lovely top.
Depends if you like this style of slit/boat neck, not everyone does. I have worn the Joinery top and it wasn’t catching my throat or neck in the slightest. If you make the joinery top i suggest adding 4 sts to the contrast panel to even up the size. I only noticed one person mentioned something relating to this but they thought they’d worked it incorrectly. I think everyone else extra stretched the piece in blocking or left the top a bit lop-sided.
Loved this pattern as well but not keen on boat neck for myself.
