The last round up of 2024 knitting! We can count the months in all the glorious projects that we’ve seen over this year.
What projects are you working on now and what plans do you have for December knits? Any new knitting or crochet dreams for 2025?

I’ll finish the test knit, then get back to the Adventure is Waiting shawl that I paused for the test, I think those will take me through to the end of the year. I sent the Christmas decoration to my husbands colleague and he liked it.

Same sweater on my needles. I’m on the second sleeve. The knitting is pretty quick but the seaming was slow in sleeve 1.
I have a conundrum with the neck though and this could be a problem in finishing off.

Today little Mister and I made this years new Xmas tree decorations (we have 1 or more new with a significant meaning or hand made each year), this is year of the cross-stitch so I got a little set which had 2 wooden pre holed shapes with embroidery thread. Very simple to look at but the nicest part was sitting together sewing, it was a lovely morning.

Finishing up a pair of socks for myself. In two weeks, my daughter and I are getting together with my oldest sister and our baby sister, we will go have an evening meal together and sit and talk. Then on the afternoon of the 18th we leave for Virginia to spend Christmas with our remaining son, this will be the 2nd Christmas since our oldest son passed away.

My condolences on the passing of your son. It’s so lovely that you and your family can be together over the holidays.

I was working on another pony project, but what I had planned is going to be put off for next December (too ambitious for the time I was giving myself, lol). My next project might be gift bags for the Christmas presents I got my friend’s children.

I’ve returned to my Charmeuse shawl by Romi Hill - I need to clear a few WIPs before casting on again! These are not my usual (lary!) colours but the bronze just glows :two_hearts:

Sorry for your loss. So hard at this time of year x

Gosh that’s beautiful, love the colours.
What is the yarn on the right? A mohair? I keep seeing lovely things in mohair but have never used it as I feel it will tickle my nose.

Thank you.

Thank you! Its Emma’s yarn ( an American brand) called marvelous mohair. 72% Mohair and 28% silk, 419 m per 50g. It’s stocked by Yarn Worx in the UK.
I find that the high quality mohairs are soft and stop shedding after the first block. But I’m not particularly sensitive to wool . It might be worth making a swatch and tucking it under your collar or bra strap for a day! Budget mohair however, can be very rough!

Thanks. Good idea about trying a swatch and ‘wearing’ it.

A friend has a wool sensitivity. This is what she does. Knits a swatch and tucks it in her bra and wears it all day. She can tell easily if it’s tolerable or not.

. You just have to remember it’s there!
I frequently lose cable needles when I knit, only to find them later when I’m getting undressed for bed!!!

More than once I’ve realized when checking out at a store that I had a crochet hook tucked handily in my cleavage. I just happened to see it when using my debit card.

That’s hilarious! :joy:

I’m just starting a raglan sweater so I can practise knitting in the round. Also, I just want something that I can pick up over the holidays without having to use too much brain power.

As for plans for 2025 there are too many to count currently but top of the list is the map of the world sweater that I had 2 failed attempts at earlier this year. It will not beat me! :joy:

I just realised I don’t have an easy project to just pick up over the holidays, everything requires brain. Eek.
