Whatcha' Knitting? December, 2021

Just when I get used to writing 2021, we’re almost at the end of the year. What’s on your needles or crochet hooks? Are you on deadline to finish holiday gifts? Here are some small ideas but they can only be accessed on the day. No peeking ahead.

This is such a cute idea. I must admit I tried to peek.

Ooh that’s cute

I made a hat out of a headband I knit the other day called Across the Border(ravelry) I thought it might make a nice brim!! I went for a fade effect and I’m happy enough with the result🙂

Thank you salmonmac, it was fun to play around with - keeping my hands and mind busy :slightly_smiling_face:
That headband pattern is delightful

Great effect. Looks like a snow ball just landed there.

Yes, I agree. I love the splash!!

I would like to knit some mini sweater or stocking decorations, but I’ve left it a bit late. I might plan to do it for winter here in the southern hemisphere. My town usually has “Christmas in July”.

Berroco puts out a free pattern each year:

The tiny pompom beanie this year is particularly cute:

I also like the look of the Little Cotton Rabbits pattern for mini stocking (knitted flat):

I like the idea of the mini decorations. Arne and Carlos also have patterns for mini stockings with a Norwegian flavor. More of an all year project however or maybe your coming winter?

Not at all christmassy or even fit for the cold winter weather but this is what I’m making this month

A free drops pattern for a little summer cardigan.
I’m using a few different left over colours/yarns and I’m not at all sure it will look nice in stripes but I’m trying it out.
So far one sleeve and I have made a start on the main body. I like the lace patterns… but the colours? Hmm… I don’t know.

I also used an “icelandic cast on” by Patty Lyons. It’s a beautiful decorative cast on, if you haven’t tried it out I recommend a swatch just to see how pretty this is.
Use a needle a few sizes smaller than usual, on this I used 2mm for cast on with DK yarn which usually uses 4mm needles. I could even have gone smaller as it is a very loose cast on which looks much better on the smaller needles.

Beautiful daughter, beautiful dress. And a great fit (my constant worry that nothing will fit!). Perfect.
I love the gentle wave across the yoke (it probably has a proper name, not wave) it really adds a delicacy.

The dress is lovely and your daughter looks gorgeous in it. Well done!

No new pictures as to show but 4 unicorns, untold hats and headbands and still the bed jacket to finish by Xmas eve. Also now to complete 6 chocolate orange Christmas tree covers, 3 tunock tea cake Christmas puddings and an assortment of ferro roche Santa hats, snowmen and Christmas puddings by Friday. Few days off then dementia fiddle sleeves for the whole of January. Aiming to knit one a day with the help of my trusty bond.

I love it. Could you share the pattern name

@Nanny189 You are amazing! If you can squeeze in an extra 30 seconds we would love to see a photo of any and all. The project for January is so worthwhile and one a day is impressive. Thank you for doing this.
