What yarn to use for daugher'w wedding afghan?

I have a beautiful pattern that is actually a baby blanket which I am adapting as a wedding afghan for my daughter and her husband to be. I am crocheting it as it is an alternating open and closed filet squares pattern with hearts and initials. Plus I am planning to use ribbon through the open spaces around the border.

Bamboo yarn has been suggested to me though I have read about its properties of stretching. I’d like to use a nice yarn, soft that will wear well without pilling.

Any ideas of yarns to use and yarns to avoid???

Thank you!

Well, so many yarns pill at least a little I’m not sure about that. The more tightly spun yarns pill the least I’m told. The very soft yarns are usually loosely plied so they pill more… hmm…

I would use I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby. I made my husband’s nephew and his new wife an afghan when they got married and it didn’t pill when she washed it.
