Based on The Harlot’s book, “Stephanie Pearl-McPhee Casts Off,” what kind of knitter are you?
a process knitter - one who knits fpurely for the love of knitting
a product knitter - one who knits for an end result - the product (this doesn’t mean they don’t enjoy knitting, it’s just not the primary objective)
permanent resident - one who knits constantly (alot) and who’s stash is substantial
visitor - one who picks up knitting here and there
I’m such a process knitter… I’m not concerned about not finishing things. I just love the knitting part. -Not to say that I don’t finish objects and wouldn’t love to have finished objects… it’s just not as important to me.
OOoohhhhhh I am a process Knitter…I eat , breath and live knitting lol , What can i say ? I am an addict an i have to have something on the needles even if it is just a knit/purl scarf
I voted product knitter who permanently resides in the land of knitting because I enjoy knitting but I like to knit smaller things so I can have that feeling of accomplishment when I finish something. If I have too many WIP’s I start to feel overwhelmed. And since I’m not working at the mo, I have pleeeenty of time to knit (and do housework, but let’s face it…)
My stash isn’t very big at the moment but it’s big enough that if I stopped buying yarn RIGHT NOW (ha!) it would take me at least a couple months to knit away what I have. Mostly because I knit pretty slow, though.
im a definate a process knitter, i live and breath knitting. i always have at least 2things on the go.
i knit untill 3/4 am just so i can get done what i want and play with my 5 year old ds the following day. god help me when he’s at school after jan, there’ll be no stopping me then cloud9 .
I’m definitely a process knitter who has to knit every single day or else I just don’t feel right. I have a pretty large stash and I don’t have plans for all of it, but just try and get me to part with it!
I also have a little bit of product knitter in me because all my life I’ve had trouble finishing what I start, and now that I’m a knitter it gives me great satisfaction to actually finish my projects. I like to knit stuff to use around the house like dish cloths or my eyeshade which I use every night.
So I’m a bit of both . . . but definitely more process than product.
Definately process, and I definately live in the land of knitting. In fact, if that were an actual place, I would move there.:woot: Everyone would take the train or the bus so they could knit, every house would have a “stash room” for only knitting/crocheting type things, DH’s would build us all shelves to store our yarn, and yarn would be free. Every store would have it. Go buy milk and yarn at the same time. And you either would have to be a fiber nut or be related to a fiber nut to live there.
I guess I would be classified as a process knitter. I have several wip, only thing to do is block and put together and knit on collars to two of them, but I am about to finish a top-down cardigan and this will be only second FO - after blocking and sewing up the underside of the sleeves, that is. Whoopee. I will make myself go back to the UFO’s before beginning another project.
Wouldn’t you call me a process knitter? If I see an interesting stitch pattern in a book or magazine, I mull about it until I take some scrap yarn – sometimes off the end of the ball I’m currently knitting from! – and knit up a swatch just to see how the pattern works up!
And while I can’t say that I live in the Land of Knitting, I have to admit that I visit enough to have my own key!
I’m totally a process knitter, though I knit so much, I rarely have UFOs. I get end results, but that’s just because projects aren’t long enough Definitely a process knitter - I am passionate about cables as well, but lately it’s been all about the lace!
I do try to keep myself fairly disciplined though - I’ve got to finish my lace scarf before I can begin a new shawl, stuff like that. I don’t keep myself to strict rules about that, but I just try to be reasonable so I do eventually have finished projects!
lol I definitely go through periods where I’ll finish a ton of things, then I’ll go through other periods where I knit constantly and there’s nothing even resembling an FO. Mostly I just like to make sure I have a big mix of projects going at once - difficult sock, easy sock for on the go knitting, big project that has to stay home, you know. And I like to make sure that I’m usually working on at least one cable and one lace project at all times (the more complicated, the better), throw in a colorwork once in a while and it’s all good
I don’t love swatching, though - does that make me an illegitimate process knitter?! Still, I love lace weight the best cuz you have hours and hours and hours of knitting enjoyment from a single hank - worsted works up WAY too quickly!!!
I like the product, but it’s all about the process!
Same as Jan and Braden. I like knitting and love to finish projects.
I have one unfinished project that has been haunting me for about three years - it’s a cardigan I was knitting for myself but I’ve gone right off the colour and the pattern but I’ll just have to turn it into something else - all that yarn just lying there is driving me nuts!!!
I’m both, but more of a product knitter. I enjoy the process and learning new techniques, but I love my FO’s. UFO’s truly bug me, so I usually work on one thing at a time. Finishing something beautiful gives me such a sense of accomplishment, as well as a confidence boost.
