Im still a pretty new knitter-I just dyed a 220 yard skein of KP WOTA- it came out really nice. I can’t decide what to make with it? I haven’t tried socks, mittens or cabling, so I’m leaning toward something like that. Any suggestions?

The Irish Hiking Scarf is a great intro to cable knitting…though it does get to be a little mind-numbing.

What size is the scarf when finished? O hwait- I only have 220yards- unless I dyed more, but I would guess it won’t look the same. :doh:
I like the gloves too- but I’m not sure I would get much use from them in SoCal. hmmmmm… but maybe a nice gift.
Yes, in the round :twisted: Also, my IHS has been on the needles for like 8 months (hello, got bored, it was spring, so I put it away) …anyway, my skein is only 200 yds, and it does appear that it will turn out long enough. But, you know, it’s for a 6yo, so length isn’t crucial. 
what are your mods for doing the mittens in the round ? :notworthy:
Actually – here was my process…I cast on 24 sts and started working 2x2 ribbing for a few inches. Just like a sock. 
Then I looked on the Internet until I found a pattern that called for 24 sts. :roflhard: Actually, this one called for 25, so I increased one on my first stockinette row. Since I already had ribbing, I just followed the instructions from after it tells you to knit the 5 straight stockinette rows. (sort of. :mrgreen:) I just followed the instructions as written, but knitting the “purl” rows.
