What to knit for June baby?

:wall: Friends are having their first baby girl this June and I am at a loss for what to make them. :?? I would like to knit something, but not too interesting a blanket as everyone gives blankets. Trying to think of something useful yet fun…winter babies are so much easier !

thank you

A tank top, a nice lacey jacket, or a cotton hat would do great.

You could also knit the baby a toy or something.

You could knit a light weight hat and sweater. I’m knitting a hat with Knit Picks Palette and its a Light Weight yarn. I have also knitted a Teddy Bear too for my daughetr. There are some really good baby book out there. If your into hats “Itty Bitty Hats” By Susan B. Anderson is a good one. Debbie Bliss also has a Simply Baby book.

I hope this helps.

How 'bout this: Blossom dress

I just did one for my niece in a cotton/acrylic, and it’s soooo cute!

How about…

Sunsuit and sweater set
Sundress
Romper (pdf)
Baby dress or christening gown

Also, now that I think about it, you can always knit winter items in a 6 mos size! Or even 18 mos–it’s always nice to have some bigger items when you’re a new mommy.

Thank you for the suggestins. I don’t have children so I always do a soft washable book, diapers, and onsies. I think for this little one I will do a lacey tank top and cap and then maybe work on something snuggly for winter.

Those sound like a good idea. If you are looking for sweater patterns Lion has some on line at their website. there is a tank/cardigan combo that i’ve got, which isnt too hard to knit.

This set can be knit up in a weekend and is easy, easy, easy and looks beautiful. Anyone can do this. I used Bernat Satin for a set and have used Caron Simply Soft too, which gives the set a sheen. Both yarns are nice and soft. If you want something they will treasure this is surely it and like I said works up quickly. I did the hat, booties, and sweater over this last Sat and Sun. You really can’t go wrong with this set.
(I am including a pic as to how it looks knitted up)

My first was a June baby. I really appreciated sweaters that were made for us in 6-12 mos size.

One of my DD’s is a July baby. I agree that it’s always nice to receive sweaters, clothes, etc. that are in the 6, 12 or even 18 month size range.

Here’s a pattern that I just found:
