What to do with these??

A friend gave me some yarn she can’t use any more. Some in skeins and some wound into very hard, round balls.

I tried to re-wind those balls into loose ones but I soon discovered that all that yarn was all stretched out. I’m pretty sure it’s all acrylic.

What I want to know is: Is it possible to re-use stretched out yarn or not?? How would I get the “springy-ness” back into it?

I’m not sure you can. I would make something that doesn’t depend on that quality like clothing does. I’d probably toss or donate it, but you could maybe make something like a toy.

Thanks. That’s what I thought. I have yet to figure out why people do that to their yarn. Unfortunately almost 1/2 of what she gave me was like that!!

But I still have a good bit that can be used!!!

Would putting it through the wash help freshen it up/unstretch the yarn?

Not tried it but may be worth a go with a ball you don’t mind losing.
