I went digging into my 10 plastic bins of yarn stash yesterday and found a whole BUNCH of leftover yarn rolled up into balls just sitting there. For some reason I’ve never thrown them away – mostly because I think I “could” use it eventually.
So, what should I do with these? They’re almost all the same weight and are acrylic and multicolored. The only project I can come up with is to tie them all together and knit a blanket out of it. But the resulting monstrosity could end up making someone dizzy just looking at it!
Should I:
Keep them “just in case”
Figure out what to make out of them and actually USE them
Well knitting hats for charity is always a nice idea and acrylic is in demand at hospitals. Here are some of the many hat patterns at one charity site.
What about a mitred square blanket?
I’m thinking a series of sampler squares, where you try out all your favourite knitting patterns and stitches, then sew 'em up into a nice bedspread or rug, my two cent’s worth.
A friend of mine taught knitting at a halfway house where she was volunteering. I gave some of my leftover yarn to her. I live in a small condo, so I don’t have a lot of storage space. I need to clean out my stash, too. Thanks for all of your ideas!
