I haven’t knitted lace before. I need some ideas, either something medium sized with multiple colors, or small things I can make with individual hanks. What should I do?
There are some gorgeous shawl patterns!!! You will love doing lace!
Here’s a link to a site with a listing of over 300 shawl patterns sorted by amount of yarn needed. Not all are free patterns but a good amount are.
Thanks for this WONDERFUL link, Plantgoddess!!!
cool link! So how much yarn did you get? Let’s see some p0rn!
I got the sunset lace sampler. It’s so soft!

I ordered that too… with other yarn too… got just over $50 worth! And much of it was just like 2 dollars a hank or ball! :woot: Can’t wait for it to get here!
They get me with the free shipping over $50 every time! Even if I only need a couple of things, I figure I might as well not “waste” money paying for shipping.
I just got one hank rolled into a ball after much agony and tangling! I found a scarf I liked but my gauge off. It should be 7 stitches per inch (actually 28 stitches per 4 inches, but I was too lazy to do that much) and it’s 9 per inch. I wonder how much difference that would make in a scarf.
Ok, I got serious yarn envy now… I have been looking at this very sampler ever since they put it up for sale.
Good for you!!!
How abot some lace scarves?
Me, three and everytime I get a post notification on this thread or see it on the forum page, mouth drools, lips quiver…fingers get itchy and heart starts pounding :teehee: I think I heard my needles :cheering: , too! LOL!

Over say 40 stitches, that would be a couple inches. Try larger needles.
This is the scarf I want to knit:

I knit pretty tightly, and the gauge was off on the 2s. I don’t have any 3s and now that I have Options needles it hurts me to spend even $3 on aluminum, but I’m going to get some 3s today and try that. It’s not a very thick scarf so a couple of inches would definitely make a difference!
That’s really pretty.
I have question about that… how do you keep the ribbon from unraveling after you cut it?
I use a bit of fray check. You can find it at the fabric store.

Thank you so much!!! I have avoided a lot of project because I didn’t know what to do except sew it and weaving in ends is enough sewing for me… :teehee:
Cool, more info for me. I hadn’t even though that far ahead yet. I haven’t done anything w/ ribbon before.
Every time I see an ad for the lace samplers, this Spectrum Scarf comes to mind.

I don’t know if the gauge would be right, but…it’s a scarf…gauge doesn’t matter all that much :happydance:
