What kind of cast on

I have started my first sweater and already I am stuck it says “at the end of this last increase row cast on to the right tip of the needle 10 stiches”. What kind of cast on should I use?

When I have to cast on in the middle of something I generally use the Backward Loop but you can use pretty much any one-strand cast on.

Thank you for such a fast response Ingrid I am much more confident doing this project knowing I have all kinds of smart people to turn to when I get stuck.

Ingrid I am doing something wrong I am going to start over I don’t get it it says to cast on to the right tip of the needle 10 stiches and join the round where am I casting on ??

From what you’ve told me, I’d say after you cast on those stitches, then start working in the round. So after the cast on, your next stitch will be the one that is at the other end of the needle–make any sense?

do I cast the 10 stiches on the opposite needle from where I ended ?

Get to the end of the part you’re knitting–put the needle with the stitches in your right hand. Cast on the stitches on that needle since the working yarn is there. Then bring the stitches all around the circular needle to the left point, so your working yarn is at the right point and you have stitches to knit at the left point. Does that make sense?

Thank you sooooo much I knew that I would feel like a dope when I figured it out!
