The way I’m reading it it means to k1, p1 two times, i.e., k1, p1, k1, p1.

  • are you saying that is what is printed in the pattern?

Or does the pattern say just “Rib 2” and you are asking if it possibly means to knit 1 and purl 1 twice?

To me, rib 2 means knit 1, purl 1.

pattern says Rib 2 = my interpretation is knit 1, purl 1 and do this sequence twice
rib 2tog = no idea.

Rib 2 tog would be knit or purl 2 tog, depending where you are in the rib pattern at that point.

if my current stitch is knit and next is purl. Do I purl together or knit 2tog ? Thanks

“Rib 2” means knit 1, purl 1. Do it once, not twice. (Only do it twice if the pattern says to do so.)

Rib 2tog - are you on the last rib row before changing to stocking stitch? If so, you will be on the wrong side of the fabric. When I’m in that situation I purl 2 tog because the resulting stitch on the right side of the knitted fabric blends nicely into the stocking stitch. But I don’t think its earth shattering whether you knit the 2tog or purl them.
