What is your biggest problem when you're knitting?

Yup, stopping. And staying on this computer, letting the computer suck away my time I should be knitting.

I also have many things lying around I haven’t finished but that’s ok, they’ll eventually get finished. I just found half a white cotton washcloth I started a year ago trying out a stitch called King James Brocade. I couldn’t find the book the stitch was in for 3 days. Then I finished that washcloth last night with the year delay. It was kind of funny, but there it is finished.

Oh I know! Buying only two skeins of some expensive beautiful yarn… that’s a real beginners mistake. I have so many 2 skeins of something that I can’t make a sweater out of it, it’s a nightmare. I’m now going to progress to savvy knitter and buy 8 or 10 skeins for a change. I hope.:teehee:

Solitude, peace and quiet! I might have an hour a day during the Spring, Summer and Fall months without some form of interruption like work, husband, son, telephone…ANIMALS! I envy “Yarn Harlot” and her peaceful cabin knitting getaways. I have considered using 4-5 days of my vacation to rent a nice cabin somewhere just so I can knit and concentrate. I hate cold weather but I do look forward to it so I’ll have time for knitting.

Gauge is what I had problems with. It still takes me many tries before I get it right. Right now I’m working on some clogs right now, it’s hard to keep track of where I am, even with my stitch counter. I have to do the parts that require concentration when I am in a quite place.

In no particular order, my problems as a beginner are understanding patterns (all so differrent) thank go for KinittinHelp and YOUTube for the videos.

Affording the yarn. I am a stay at home parent (the pay is very bad!) with 3 small daughters. I have spent HOURS online pricing yarn for my latest love but have to save for at least 4 weeks to gather the €60/70 (thats Euros by the way) very frustrating. Am praticing my stiches on bargain bucket yarn and make bags for the kids in the meantime.

Balancing knitting with the kids - not good parenting to ignore them too much

My problem is that I am a thrower, no matter how hard I have tried to hold my yarn in left hand like I crochet, when I knit I have to hold the yarn in my right hand and I’m so damn slow, but I still keep trucking and getting better all the time. I really am loving knitting, should have learned years ago. Also when I got my really nice needles I promised my self I would not buy anymore YARN just use the massive quantities I already have. Well that didn’t last long, I am still a yarn whore! and this last excuse was of course a 50% coupon and need 2 to make the socks I’m working on now.:balloons:

Remember just what I bought that particular yarn for. :??
The rest aren’t problems but opportunities to learn.
Too much yarn??? Naw!!!
Not enough time? Yup.

Pattern reading. If I read to far ahead, I become too scared to try them. Now I only read one part at a time and try not to let the pattern get the best of me.

Dropped stitches. I have to fix a sock foot because I put my work down and 2 stitches fell off.

My goal it to make mittens for the kids (the thumb boggles my mind) and a sweater.

[COLOR=“DarkOrchid”]My biggest knitting problem is my poor memory. I forget very easily so what I did was… I started writing the pattern down… copying it from the original but putting it in terms that I understand for myself as I go along.
I’ve especially had to do this with socks and I still follow what I wrote even now and I’ve been knitting quite a few pairs of socks lately.
I also have trouble transposing a pattern from regular needles to circular… just can’t seem to do it tho’ I’m sure a lot of the knitters here do it without a thought. I haven’t figured out a way around this yet.

Ah, when I was a beginner, I had issues with dropped stitches and increased stitches. I could not understand why it kept happening. It’s not a problem to me now since I know what I’m doing, lol. Since I use the knitting looms, I still have issues keeping track of the rows, especially if I’m making amigurumi dolls. I made one arm longer than the other one on my first doll. From now on, I’ll start keeping track.

My biggest problem is aching shoulder muscles, esp in my right hand. I’ve been trying to knit in different ways, to avoid repetitive strain injuries, and it helps a bit, especially with my right hand, but the shoulders need to be rested every few days…which eats into my knitting time!

My biggest promblem is when you follow a pattern and you think you’ve got it right and when you look at the the pattern of your garment and it is all wrong then you start to undo it time after time then I loose my temper and throw it across the room :hair: . When I calm down I try it again and the 2nd time in picking up the yarn and needles it all comes out right.:yay:

The biggest problem I have while knitting is having to stop long enough to take another drink of beer.
