I’m a beginner, and I’m trying to follow an “easy” pattern for a scarf, but I can’t figure out the instructions. Every time I try it I end up with extra stitches, and I’m really frusterated. What does it mean to K1,*yfwd twice, K1…what is yfwd? And the next row then calls to drop the 2 yfwds off the needle…is this the same as slipping a stitch? Sorry if this is a silly question…thanks.

look in the “abbreviations explained” tab above and find the YO abbreviation…it is the same thing.
when you get to the next row do just what it says, drop them off the left hand needle. do not pick them up with the right hand needle. essentially you are intentionally making holes in your scarf. it sounds like you are making a lacy looking scarf.
slipping a stitch usually means (from my experience) that you are slipping the stitch from one needle to the other. that is not what you are doing this time.
Thank you so much for clarifying that yfwd is the same as yo. So, for yfwd twice do I wrap the yarn around the right needle twice and then knit a stitch?
