What is this object?

Hey everyone!

I recently bought a really cute knitting kit, it’s super helpfull and practical. Only I don’t know what this is used for, I haven’t seen it anywhere!

Let me know if you know what this is used for. :yarn::smile:

They look like bobbins - used for winding lengths of yarn to knit intarsia!

Yep. Bobbins. I’d hate them for winding yarn for a project but some people think they marvelous. I’ve tried homemade things from cardboard and they were just in the way and irritating. If I had some of these I’d use them for saving small amounts of yarn leftovers because throwing them out is so soul wrenching.

Here’s a good explanation of how to wind and use them, in case your project is colorwork:

That’s a cute set of knitting bits and bobs. I have a similar set which came with my budget set of needles and most of the bits were great. I didn’t get bobbins in mine but like GrumpyGramma I wouldn’t like to use them. I prefer my strands loose when doing colour work even if I have 20 or 30 strands across a sweater my preference is a loose jumble of madness rather than bobbins or balls.
You will, have to do a fabulous colour project now so you can tell us if you prefer with or without bobbins!
