What is the simplest sock pattern you know?

i have only made scarves and one hat (most of one hat, im waiting to finish it, but i understnad how to finish it off, i think) and i want to do something different. i want to be able to make a sweater but that requires a huge amount of yarn, na di just dont have the cuZash for that. but i do have all of this yarn in one or two skeins each and would like to make something different.

ive got this cool looking variegated worsted weight yarn (its turquoise and brown shades) and want to do wsocks, but every sock pattern seems to have all of this inferred knowlege that goes along with it. i need someone to hold my hand and say this is cast on for a sock etc etc etc

know any?
