What IS she doing??

You guys are always so helpful, im hoping you can help again!
So, im making granny squares with a flower in centre and the flower bit looks great.
Im following a youtube video and am struggling with the part where she makes the square around the circle. Ive slowed the video right down and still cant figure it out.
The written instructions on the screen dont make sense to me: if i repeat 8 times, surely ill have 8 corners?
Even i know a square only has 4!
I cant share but the video is called

How to Crochet Flower Granny Square Phone Bag | Chompu Handicrafts

And the square starts with green yarn at 07:11

Thank you in advance!

It looks like the repeat is to happen twice on each side of the square. It helps to slow down the video to see what that flying crochet hook is doing.

Definitely had to slow the video down. I went back to see the previous round to understand where in the pattern she is. You should have chain spaces you’re working into. This round sets up for sides and corners. salmonmac got it 100% correct. If you’re not familiar with plain granny squares there are a few (hundreds? thousands?) of videos on how to start one. I’d find one in case it would be helpful but with so many to choose from I’d probably pick one that just doesn’t work for you.

That’s a cute pattern. I’m tempted to make it myself.

I don’t know why so many people make videos too fast to follow!

It says {(3dc, 2ch, 3dc), 3dc, 3dc}* 8 times. Note the doubled brackets!
The first part–(3dc, 2ch, 3dc) is a corner. Then 3dc, 3dc is across the side to the next corner, where you repeat the whole thing in curly brackets { } again.

But yeah, it should be 4 times, not 8!
