What is knitting weight?

I tried to do a search, but couldn’t come up with an answer to this question. (Got some pretty funny threads, though. ) I am looking at a pattern that calls for “knitting weight” yarn, but I have no clue what that might be as I’ve never heard that term before. :??

What’s the gauge given for the pattern?

Knitting weight would be the pounds that I have added to my bottom and hip area since beginning knitting and giving up everything else in my life that requires me to move from the knitting chair!

:roflhard: :roflhard:

Best. Definition. Ever.

I totally did a spittake when I read that. Thanks Carmen! hugs

I actually figured it out all on my very own, believe it or not. Not what knitting weight is – Carmen has that right! :roflhard: – but the pattern later calls for Paton’s Classic Wool, which is worsted weight.

Thanks for the (humorous) replies, though!
