What is a good soft post-felting yarn?

What is a yarn that ends up soft after felting, like for a child’s hat? Aren’t some yarns that are scratchy before felting still scratchy after felting? Is Cascade 220 soft both pre and post felting?

I really need to get to a REAL LYS to do some yarn fondling! I can’t believe I’m still a LYS virgin. :oops:
