As the title asks…What in the world is this :?? !?
:roflhard: I know!
Looks like a Clapotis blocking wrapped up in a towel, to me!
But it’s not!!! LOL, I don’t think that would fit…LOL, that would be like a felted clapotis…in which case ya’ll would be emailing me in the looney bin  ! …no wise cracks Denise…
It is the beginning of the construction of the clapotis hat that I knit today, of course I knew ya’ll would know ! I have to block the ends so I can seam them together before I put the top on tomorrow
:cheering: :cheering: Now I’m off to figure out what, if anything I want to do to fingerless gloves…
Tricky, tricky. I thought it might be the hat, but I couldn’t figure out why it would be blocking before it was done. Now I know.
I thought you might have rolled up the Clapotis in the towel. Now I see the line where the two sides meet.
A-ha! I thought it looked too small to be the actual clapotis…
Oh–Rebecca-I didn’t know WHAT it was! But the colors are purdy! What pattern are you using for the fingerless gloves? My grandson really wants some ; are they very hard to do? I can use dps, and I’ve done several pairs of socks…
a mother cat sweater???
I had no idea!! I really need to check out this clapotis pattern I keep thinking I am then I get sidetracked!!
LOL, yep, my hat that I am about to go finish…I hope . Then I will see how much yarn I have left & can then figure out what I will do with the fingerless gloves
Trudy, I use this pattern for my fingerless gloves bc you can customize the size for any hand, any yarn; you just need a few measurements of the hand & your gauge & it’s very easy! There’s a worksheet that goes with it, too. Have fun!
I’m off to finish the hat… :waving:
I finished the hat a while ago, but have been having horrible problems with my camera …hopefully it’s something simple that
Lonnie can fix!
I will say this…that is NOT the easiest seam I’ve ever sewn together!!
Okay, after I knit the small hat with a very small version of the clapotis pattern I blocked the ends (they were far too curly to seam) and then seamed them, picked up 72 sts & did the spiral decrease so that it looked like a pinwheel. I so, so love this cool blog where I found the pattern :cheering: :cheering:
Completed Clapotis Hat
Clapotis, Hat & me…sideways…and looking ‘elongated’ bc of software :roflhard: :rofling:
Clapotis, Hat & me…after being turned in photo software & looking squashed :roflhard: :rofling:
This evening…I begin the gloves :happydance: :happydance:
Oh. My. God. That hat is a masterpiece. An architectural wonder. WOW. I never in a million years would have thought to do a hat like that. Wow. Again. Seriously.
Becka,
I didn’t think I could be more stunned than by your Clapotis scarf – but that hat is amazing! However – the best part of this post is getting to see YOU!
:XX:
Thanks everyone…I wish I could take the credit for the hat, but this girl (I’m ashamed to say that I don’t know her name) with this very cool blog came up with it…she’s got some very cool photos on her blog of hats & clapotis & hat tips! Boy, I was one happy girl when I found this pattern, too, bc I sure didn’t wanna write one…LOL! I just couldn’t have done it justice!! If I were many years younger I would do the dropped sts on the fingerless gloves, but I just can’t pull that one off
…LOL!!
So, I’m off to TRY to decide how to do these gloves, just the right stitch hasn’t hit me yet :wall: …it will
Thanks again everyone
I highly recommend knitting clapotis, whether u do a scarf, the current size or even enlarging it. I am going to do a bigger, solid color one @ some point in the future…
