on the pattern i’m working on, i was doing fine. then around row 7, i started counting one stitch off, and i thought it was okay. (i counted every stitch i made to make sure i didn’t skip or drop a stitch). that went on for like three rows. now i seem to be missing seven stitches. (the pattern is called the basket weeve, so it’s a little complicated, but not too much) any ideas as to what i did wrong?
Check to make sure some stitches didn’t drop off the needles, or that you didn’t accidentally knit 2 together somewhere.
Thanks! i looked back, and it turns out that i dropped like three stitches. but no it looks like i have two wrong sides! (this happens to me alot) i don’t know what i did! i have to alternate colors alot, and whith the way the pattern turned out, i would tie off the colors on the left side. then i noticed that on the “right” side of the dishcloth, i couldn’t see the pattern more than about eight rows up, and the knots started being on the right side. i was thinking what the heck? so i looked on the other side, and i realized that the side that i thought was the wrong side, is more right than wrong! so the pattern is on both sides, and so is the back? its fine, it doesnt mess up productivity, but i would like to know what i did wrong for future reference. thanks
Probably when you picked it up to knit more, you got started on the wrong row and did 2 WS rows together or 2 RS rows together. Learning to read your knitting or marking the RS (in the middle of the row, not on the edge st) with another color yarn or safety pin could help.
You might knitted 2 sts together without realizing it. Look at the back of your work see if you can see 2 sts together that has been knitted.
