I am trying to make a turtle neck sweater. I am up to shaping the neck in the front. the pattern says "knit 17, Turn. Leave remaining stitches on spare needle. I don’t understand what “turn” means. can someone help me out here? thank you.
I believe they just mean turn and knit the other side.
Usually it’s at the end of the row but in this case you leave the remaining stitches on the spare needle and turn and keep knitting.
I think you will be putting the front of the neck st on a holder and doing short rows to shape the back. When you hold a ready made sweater up, the back of the neck is higher than the front.
I’m doing a crew neck sweater and will be doing the same thing soon.
“Turn” means to stop knitting, leaving the rest of the stitches unworked. Then, start knitting back the other direction on the stitches you’ve already worked for that row.
