What does this mean in the pattern?

[FONT=Arial]I am starting this Dropspattern. I can’t figure out what the (chart M-2 if you click on the link) chart means. What does k3, lift the first of the 3 sts over the other 2 mean? The chart shows it over 3 stitches, the a yo, then the same k3 lift the first of the three stitches over the other 2.
