What does M1PS mean?

I got a great hat pattern from Oceanwind. They provided a glossary of abbreviations but left out the explanation of M1PS. Anyone have any ideas? I’ve sent the company an e-mail but …LOL…I want to start this morning and I haven’t heard from them yet.

Thanks in advance

Make 1 Purl Stitch?

That’s what I thought but…LOL…now I am confused. This is how it reads;

Foundation Row (WS):
K4, [P1, m1ps], to last 4 sts, K4

Ok I got a nice responce from the company BUT LOL I still don’t understand. Is there a video somplace that will show me this?

Is this a increase?

I'm sorry, I had no idea I'd missed that in the abbreviations and no one has mentioned it to me as of yet.

M1ps just means to make a stitch and purl it, as you mention. So when you're working across the foundation row and you encounter m1ps, you will either lift the bar between the next stitch and the one you've just purled
and purl into the back of it, or you will p1 k1 in the next stitch, (your choice) wherever indicated. It keeps the cabled fabric from flaring wide and provides a tighter edge when you sew the back seem of the hat.

Please let me know if this clears up your confusion.

Again, my apologies.

I LOVE THIS SITE!!! I looked around and I think I found what I needed. Is this a Moss increase?

It’s an increase and she explains it as being either a pfb or M1p, both of which are made like the knit version, except purled.

Here’s a page that illustrates M1p - http://learntoknit.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/faq-search.cgi?store=/stores/eyarn&faqKey=77
