What does "Facing" mean in this pattern

Hi there,

I am currently busy knitting a sweater and got stuck on this one part.

I’m doing ladder stitch, where:
row 1(rs) - k1, k2tog, yo twice, ssk, k1, rep
row 2(ws) - p3, k second yo, p2, rep.

The pattern ask to ladder stitch for 9", ending with a ws row. With rs facing, place marker on te left hand edge.

How I understand it, is that I finish (just knitted) with a ws row which is purl (row2). SO if they say RS FACING, does this mean that the rs (knit row) is facing me - i’m looking at it, or is row 1(rs) facing away from me towards the public, when I place the marker?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome!
In this case, the right side should be facing you.

Thanks Ingrid!
