What are these?

I think they’re stitch holders, but I could be wrong.

They were in a box of knitting stuff I got at a garage sale this weekend. Not to gloat – okay, I wanna gloat  I found a big box with about 50-60 needles (circs, dpns, straights) and other supplies and paid just $15 for the whole box.

I told hubby I could eBay it at a profit, but now I wanna keep most of it. LOL. Shhhhh. Don’t tell hubby! :oo:

Hmm…are the little plastic doohickies magnetic at all? They look a bit like stir bar retrievers to me…

I’ve never see them, but I could see them being used as stitch holders–a pretty good idea, too.

Hummmm, small lifelines??

i’m sorry, but i can’t help it. I’m terribly curious to know what they actually are.

my mind only sees tampons…

Skipping ropes for Barbie dolls?

 :roflhard:

at first I thought maybe these… but I don’t think yours has an opening

I have been looking for some of those FOREVER!!!

I know what they are, and I could tell you…

But then I’d have to kill you.
:teehee:

Just kidding… a friend has some and I have been coveting hers.

She uses them as point protecters for DPNs.

They are only about 5 1/2 inches long - including the little plastic do-hickies - which do not have any holes for needles.

The little do-hickies are quite small – just over 1/2 inch long and an 1/8 inch wide. And the string between them is silky thin like dental floss.

I’m stumped.

do the do-hickies come off of the dental floss?

Same thought here!

Same thought here!
Me too

I thought…what the heck?? :??

Regardless, definately interesting things!

Nope.

Maybe you can ask here?

Yes, I looked closely at the image and there are no holes in the end pieces and the ‘cord’ does not come off so they can’t be to protect DPN’s so…hmm…either back to a stitch holder (although you’d be looking for something ‘clickable’ I think which those don’t have)…or…

I’ve looked on a number of knitting notions sites and nothing like them really.

So, reverse logic, what could you use them for?? If you can think of what you could do with them perhaps that will backtrack to original purpose…

So, aside from Barbie skipping or attempting to lasso Ken or them being used as nunchakus by the Bratz dolls, what could they be used for in craft or knitting? Could they be used in a weaving loom for something?

The only thing I have ever seen that looks even remotely similar to those things are old fashioned ear plugs used in factories back in the early 70s.

Maybe they were put in the box by mistake?

Knitting_Guy. I know the things you mean and yes, they are very like that.

Is it possible to try and locate the previous owner via the stall owners or whomever organised the sale you were at? Just for the purposes of asking…saying many minds want to know!
