Figured I’d stop by to say hi and apologize for being MIA for so long…lol…First off, this parenting gig sure eats up a lot of time with school and homework and class parties and plays and all the other crap that comes with having kids!! :teehee:
Secondly, after breaking my addiction to nasal spray in Jan. 2009 and quitting smoking in Jan. of 2010, I decided starting Jan. 2011 I’m no longer gonna be a fatty and I’ve literally been workin’ my booty off on my treadmill and tracking calories through SparkPeople (thank you, Jan? was it for mentioning SparkPeople on the forum some time ago)…I’ve lost at least 12 pounds since the beginning of Jan., probably more but I haven’t weighed myself in like 2 weeks because, well, being a girl, my fellow girlies know about the monthly weight gain, BAH! So I figure I’ll do my next weigh in once this terrible time is over with…haha
And, lastly, I’ve been a horrible knitter this winter! So horrible I haven’t even picked up the needles since last Fall…I know, I don’t even feel like a real knitter anymore! :teehee: Just been so busy with 50 million other things I’ve been in a knitting funk…By the time I sit down at the end of the day I’m ready to zone out and pass out, the last thing I wanna do is concentrate on something! lol
Anyway…Yeah, just wanted to check in with those I haven’t spoken with in ages and say I am still lurking around even if not posting much, hope everyone here has been well!
It’s nice to hear from you! I know how it is with kids. How old are yours now?
I can sympathize with you on the nasal spray addiction. Been there and that is a hard one to break since I find breathing kind of addicting, too. :teehee: It took me a long time to finally get over it. How did you do it?
I think once you finally pick up the needles again you’ll feel the enjoyment come back. Maybe just start with something simple like a dishcloth. It doesn’t require much brain power and can be very relaxing which it sounds like you need.
Sounds like you are on a good weight loss plan. Anyhting more than 2-3 lbs a week puts you at risk for the yo-yo effect. My advice for what its worth…don’t view it as a diet, its a lifestyle change…a new way of approaching food. Small meals every 2-3 hours (5-6 meals a day) will keep your metabolism charging hard and the body fat will melt away. Good luck on your journey!!
@ Jan - My baybas are now 9 and 6, soon to be 7
They’re not tiny babies anymore! :waah: lol…Man how quickly the time passes! -
I was using the 12 hour nasal spray and it had eventually gotten to the point where I I was using it before bed and in the morning so one day I decided I was gonna try to kick the habit for good because I was having recurring sinus infections…I just threw the bottle away once I decided to quit and never picked up another one! I did get lucky though because I didn’t have any withdrawal symptoms…I did a loooong time ago though, the first time I had quit, when I was a teenager…lol…That’s why it took me so long to bring myself to stop using them again, I didn’t want to go through the days of withdrawal stuffiness! The only thing I can think of for not having withdrawals in 2009 is that I just got to the point where I used them so infrequently it didn’t impact my stopping using altogether, thank goodness! I won’t ever buy them again though no matter how stuffy I get, that addiction is a bad one and so hard to break! -
I agree with something simple…I HAVE to get back into it! I have a sweater I’ve been working on for my dad since either last Jan. or the one before…lol…The front is finished and looks great, I have the back almost 1/2 done but it’s just too daunting right now…lol…I could use some more dishcloths! :teehee:
@ PRitchie - Thank you! Yeah, I decided some time ago no more diets, they don’t work! Well, not for me, at least…lol…I grew up dieting, and well, obviously it didn’t work…haha…Have made lots of changes in eating habits, mainly eating throughout the day…My big problem before was not eating throughout the day and being starved by the end of the night so the calories added up waaay too easily! lol…Now I have 3 meals a day with small, low to no calories snacks 2 or 3 times, depending on how many calories I have to spare…Calories counting has been awesome for me because I eat what I want, no nasty diet foods at all! I also do the treadmill for a total of an hour a day, 5 days a week - 30 minutes in the morning, 15 min. after lunch and another 15 after dinner…Has been working great so far and it’s really so easy that I don’t dread it and actually miss it on Sat. and Sun, my days off…well, off the treadmill…lol…
