Weird loop

I somehow missed the stitch on the edge of my wash cloth that I am knitting, but it doesn’t seem like a dropped stitch because it isn’t carrying up to the next rows. Any idea what I did? And is there a way to fix it? Thanks for your help.

Maybe you were fixing the garter stitch border which seems to be stockinette stitch right at the loop?
It could be that you put your knitting down and somehow carried the yarn around to start the next row?

It’s not really a long enough loop to cut and weave in the ends. It’s really too far down to ladder down to and repair. Can you call it a loop to hang the dishcloth? Maybe put a few sewing stitches at the ends of the loop to tack it down? or use the sewing thread to stitch the loop to the underlying knit sts?

I was just going to answer this question when I noticed @salmonmac already answered it . I agree with what she is saying.

Recently I did a small mistake many rows down of garter stitch. It was not visible on the front side but very visible on the backside. I decided to open a ladder all the way down and fix it and it was a lot of work to go up the ladder as one need to swap direction with the crochet hook on every row. In your case repairing would require this operation for several columns and thus very much work.

Thank you for the advice! I will call it a hanging loop.
