Weaving in ends odd question

This thought occurred to me, and I figure it probably doesn’t matter, but it’s bothering me. I think it’s not usually an issue, except I’m working entrelac, so it seems to show more.

To weave in ends, does it matter which direction you do it in?

Example, in the pic below, to the left of the arrow is where I started with a new strand of green. Should I weave it in the “new” knitting, or the “old” knitting? Hope that makes sense

Or if I have to add a new skein in the middle of the row (which I try not to do), do I weave the new yarn end on the same side as the “new” knitting? Or is it like I think, and it doesn’t really matter?

I don’t think it matters if it is hidden in the new or old, but sometimes the direction you go with the tail can even an edge out, for instance if you had a tail right where the arrow is, if you pulled it over to the left and hid it, it might pull that bump down more even with the rest of the edge.

That’s what I was thinking, too. You might just have to play with it a little bit to see what helps it look right.
