For ribbing you do knit the knits and purl the purls on the current row. For seed stitch you would do the opposite, purl the knits and knit the purls. If you have a link to the pattern we can take a look and help you out so you can finish this.
What Angela says makes sense. The odd number rows change a bit so the rib pattern is offset a stitch. The even numbered rows you knit the knits and purl the purls just like the pattern says.
