Water bottle cozy

My Dad keeps a water bottle with him while he is out, so I wanted to make him a cozy for it. Can anyone point me to any good patterns?

I’d just knit a big tube sock looking thingy. That’s what I make for my water bottles. Lemme see if I can find a pic of it fer ya.

Ummm…I"m not positive Ingrid, but I think she means the kind you drink from. I guess you could drink from those, but it might look mighty weird! :roflhard:

there is a pattern in a book i have-it’s called knit wit by amy singer- and it looks like a great pattern. it’s make to fit a normal sized water bottle. (like the dasni water bottles-i think). you can buy the book on amazon, but i dont know if it would be a your library or bookstore or not. i could also PM you it. :thumbsup:

I’ve seen Amy Singer’s book in the bookstore (Chapters, for example, and other local shops) and I’ve also borrowed it from my local library. Give it a try!

Here’s my water bottle. All I did was measure how big around it is (lets say 8 inches) then I take the yarn I am using and knit a swatch in the needles I like to go with it. Now you have to knit a swatch in the round since the piece will be knit in the round. So lets say I’ve got 5 st per inch. 5 x 8 = 40 (right :?? ) so you cast on 40 stiches. Then I knit just knit for as long as you want (for this bottle holder I was knittin crazy so its a little too big but it gets the job done) Then when yer about an inch from the bottm start decreasing. Just like you do a sock. Or you could just do a decrease every 6 inches like the top of a hat. then you get down to just a few stiches, cut yarn and draw up. voila :thumbsup:

for the record…i feel silly that i didn’t look here in the first place…cleverly disguised under the name “Bottle Sock” :doh:

This is the one i actually went looking for…you could make the bottle jacket longer i would think and felt it…

This one is for a baby bottle, but you could make it longer and leave off the handle.
