Washing

I bought some cheap yarn- It is knitting up beautiful, but I am worried it will bleed color when I wash it. It is white on one part- then green in the middle and navy- I am currently knitting the navy part and I have color all over my hands! Any tips on how I can wash this without turning my white part grey?

What fiber is it? Wool will likely bleed. I’ve never had acrylic yarn bleed and be picked up by white in the same item. You can try washing a small swatch as you expect to care for the FO and see what happens.

Try adding some vinegar to the water you are washing the yarn in. Let the yarn soak in the water for a few minutes

You can test it out by soaking and washing a strand of yarn with all the colors. Leave the strand to dry on a paper towel and see if it does bleed.
