Waistcoat

I am knitting a waistcoat. Should the two front panels measure the same length as the back? I’m not an experienced knitter. Help please.

What is the name of your pattern and designer?
There are some waistcoats with the back and fronts the same length and some where the fronts are longer than the back. It depends on the designer.

Hello there,

thankyou for your answer. I bought the pattern from SWEETDREAMS KNITTING on line and it simply has a pattern number. 251A. It has a men’s and women’s version and I am knitting the men’s. The front panels have turned out approx. 6 inches longer than the back
before I join them and pick up stitches to knit the border.

Logic tells me this can’t be right. i have emailed the seller of the pattern but no reply yet. If you can help I will be very grateful.

This definitely looks like the fronts and back should be the same length.

Is there a schematic with the pattern? Can you tell if the extra length is from the hem to armholes or along the front shaping?

Thanks so much. I’ll start unpicking!
