Vintage shawl pattern

The problem is when you make the frist 5 rows, I just do not knwo how to explain but the vertical column between the 4k and 4p loks like a chain when you folow the instructions but it does not look like the picture.

Can you post a link to the pattern if it’s on line, or is there at least a photo?
