Vintage knitting chart

Hi :wave:t4: so I am starting a vintage fair isle sweater pattern from the late 1940s . I have never made a fair isle sweater and have no clue how to follow the chart . I understand it reads from left to right /right to left etc . but just need help getting started! Here is where the instructions are and the chart is below

Great looking classic sweater.
Yes the chart reads from the bottom right to left on the right side (RS or public side) of the knitting and left to right on the wrong side (WS or private side). You’ll need to twist the yarns when you change colors to prevent a hole. In areas where the color not in use is carried over 8sts, you’ll need to catch the yarn floats. That way you won’t have long loops of yarn across the back of the knitting.

This is a lovely example of stranded knitting (not really fair isle). Please delete the instructions for the front and back. We can’t post large portions of patterns here due to designer copyright. We really only need to see the photo and the accompanying chart
