Vest in progress, stuck! Help!

I’m knitting myself a uniform vest with a pattern I found off of http://www.wizardknits.com. I’m almost done with the back but am not quite sure what to do now, the pattern is confusing me a bit. I have reached a point where it is row 62 with 63 sts remaining, and these are the instructions from here on:

 1. Shape neck. Work both sides at the same time. Work 17 sts. Slip next 29 sts to a holder. With a second ball of yarn, work remaining 17 sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row twice, until 15 sts remain.
 2. At the same time, when armholes measure 9.5 ins (row 62), start shoulder shaping.
 3. Shoulder shaping. Cast off 7 sts at armhole edge, then cast off 8 sts at armhole edge.

So what do I do exactly for each row, then? I just don’t want to screw it up, it’s my largest project to date. Thanks!

Just do exactly what each row says…

4 - do 17 sts, put the next 29 on a holder, drop that yarn and using another yarn end, do the last 17 sts. You’ll be working the 17sts separately, one row, but with a gap in it. on the next 2 rows, dec a st on each neck edge (that’s the gap). Then you’ll have 15 sts on each side.

5 - keep track of the armhole length because you’ll also be binding off for the shoulders when they’re the right measurement. BO 7sts at the beginning of a row, work across both shoulders, turn and BO 7 sts at the beginning of that row. Work across both sides of that row, turn and BO the remaining 8 sts on that side, work the other side, turn and BO the 8 sts on that side and you’re done.
