Would Homespun yarn be suitable to make a vest–I have a very simple vest pattern, but don’t know if this yarn would do well for this. I know it frays easily, but I love the texture of it. Any ideas?
Thanks,

If it doesn’t have any fringe I would think so. I have a blanket and a shawl made out of that yarn and it has held up very well with kids playing tug of war with them, our cat and dog running all over them and being thrown in the washer and dryer a bunch. My shawl has fringe and I never realized how badly it would frizz out, so that is the only .
I also made my niece a sweater from homespun and it has been holding up for at least 3 years now(my blanket has been around for a little longer than that). I love that yarn, it is so soft and comfy!
I bought this yarn for a shawl pattern, but since I don’t wear shawls and it has fringe, I reconsidered. I think I’ll try my vest pattern and see what happens. Thanks for you quick response.

Just a word of caution that LB Homespun makes a very stretchy fabric that frequently ends up being longer than you think, especially with larger needles. So my two suggestions are to work with smaller needles (size 8-9ish, not 11-13ish) for a more dense/less stretchy fabric and to hold your work up vertically to measure it.
I know some people hate Homespun with a passion, but I like it as long as I compensate for its quirks. Good Luck!
