First time using a pattern to knit.
Pattern calls for size 8 and 9 needles. To get the right gauge I have to use a 10.5 instead of a 9.
What size needle would I use in place of the size 8 since there is no 9.5? Or, what do you suggest I do instead?
Thanks in advance.
I would think a 9 should be close enough.
Without seeing the actual pattern, I’m assuming you need the smaller needles for ribbing. If that’s the case, then 9s should be just fine!
I agree with Knitting Guy and Spokaloo. A #9.
Or even a 10 might work. Think of the metric sizes of the needles - 8 and 9 are 5 and 5.5 mm; a 10½ is a 6.5mm, and the 10 is 6mm. So using the next size down should work out fine.
