Making a baby kimono. I can’t seem to figure out the following:
BACK: place 60 held back stitches on cir needle. With RS facing, rejoin yarn and use cable method to cast on 20 sts at beginning of next two rows.
Do I cast on from first stitch on right side of holder, and them knit across the sts that were on the holder? I’m confused and appreciate all of your help.
Thank you.
Welcome to KH. Could you link to your pattern, it’s allowed after your first post and is almost always helpful.
Put the held stitches on your needle - this will become your left needle for the cast on. Put your right needle between the last two stitches to begin your cable cast on with a new yarn end. After you cast on all your new stitches turn your work and work the next row starting with the newly cast on stitches. At the end you will cast on more stitches by switching the right needle to your left hand and repeating the process from there. HTH
Don’t worry about it saying to do the CO at the beginning of the row when you really are casting on at the end of the row. The wording can get my head turned around backwards sometimes.
Thank you so much for your help. I just couldn’t get it! I would love to give you a link, but I just have the pattern. It’s from INTERWEAVE KNITS Summer 2005.
