Using multiple colors: general question

Another question from a new person.

I found a few afghan patterns I would like to try some day. They use multiple colors (to make cats and/or cat faces). I am wondering… do all of the knitting techniques using multiple colors leave loose ends on the wrong side? Will the wrong side of such an afghan “be ugly”? What would be the best technique to use to make an afghan that uses multiple colors?

The technique you’re referring to is called intarsia. Yes, the back is not ‘finished’ the way the front is.

You can use duplicate stitch, basically sewing over the knit stitches with a different color, to put a picture on knitting if you don’t want it to show on the other side the way intarsia does.
