My pattern says to do my v-neck sweater at the neck edge on straights. I decided to do it on circular. After PU 107 stitches it says to
With WS facing, work in K1,P1 rib, making sure the stitch BEFORE the stitch marker is worked as a Purl stitch. Next and all RS rows. Cont in K1,P1 rib as set to 1 st before marker. Work double decrease as follows: slip next 2sts as if th knit. Knit next st and pass 2 slipped sts over it. Two stitches decreased. Cont as set until ribbing measure 1 inch. Cast off all sts in rib.
My question is since I have 107sts that means if I start with a K then I end with a K so should I add one more stitch so that two knits are not together? And then I will have a Purl before the stitch marker.
Also since I am doing it in the round I just knit the knits and purl the purls for every row right?
Soooo, since I am always on the right side does that mean that they want me to KNIT the stitch BEFORE the stitch marker not PURL?
No Jan you’re right; she needs an even number of sts for 1x1 ribbing, so picking up another would be good. And yes, candi, you’ll be knitting knits and purling purls as you go around. The first row is the hardest to keep track of, so check every 20 stitches or so that you’re keeping in pattern. It’s really easy to k2 instead of k1. I picked up around a cardigan for the button and neck bands and found that I had k2 a few stitches apart, so it was easy for me to fix when I came to them on the next row, but we aren’t always so lucky.
Wow! I can’t believe something so simple is giving me a hard time. I got all the stitches PU and the ribbing is going good but I don’t get one little thing. My pattern saysWith WS facing work k1p1 rib making sure the stitchBEFORE the stitch marker is worked as a purl stitch. next and all RS rows. cont in K1P1 rib as set to 1 st before marker. Work double decrease as follows: slip 2sts as if to knit. Knit next st a dn pass 2 slipped sts over it. Two stitches decreased.
The first stitch is a purl so should I have made it a Knit since I am on the round? It is calling for straights? That way I would slip a knit and a purl then knit next st and pass 2 sts over it.
One other thing that I can’t figure out is when I am slipping the 1st stitch before the marker and slipping the next stitch after the marker, when I knit the 3rd stitch and pass the two over the marker gets knitted into the stitch. Where does the marker go after I dec because it is in between the two stitches. Do I take it off before I do the slipping and move it over to the right?
