Using ball winder

Hi all,

This may be an obvious question, but that never stopped me before :teehee: I have an order coming and in it is a ball winder! :cheering: I was going to order the swift but it was USD$59.95 (approx $120 of my dollars! :thud: ) so I decided to get it another time. Thing is I’m now trying to picture how I can use my ball winder without the swift (not that I could picture using it WITH the swift but hey LOL!).
Any tips on how to use it without the swift? Thanks so much!

Lisa

Here is a pattern to make your swift for about 15 dollars.

I don’t have a swift, either. If I am winding from a skein or a ball I simply put the skein on the table as I’m winding, it usually drops to the floor, I pick it up and put it back on the table, lol! When I wind from a hank I place the hank over the back of our computer chair and wind the hank from the chair. I love, love my ball winder, one of the best surprises I’ve received :cheering:

Thanks Robin and Becca! I can’t wait to get it!

I’ll post a pic of it along with the other things I bought (and there’s some hemp yarn that I’ve been “saving” to show you all LOL!)

With most ball winders, just put one end of the skein, or hank or whatever you’re using through the guide, then start crankin’ I’ve also got a ball winder, and it’s saved me a LOT of space, of course I had to do it all in one shot too.
