I want to knit a sweater with a lighter weight yarn than the pattern calls for, a 19/24 instead of a instead of a 15/20. Will it work out if I just knit a larger size?
I have no idea what the numbers you gave mean. Stitches and rows per inch? :??
Some patterns are easier to adapt than others so do you have a link to the sweater pattern and what yarn you want to use? Always include that info when asking questions if you have them. It makes answering easier.
That might work. You still have to knit up a large sample to make sure what gauge you get with the lighter yarn. Then once you have your sts/inch, multiply times the measurement you want and see which size is closest to that number of sts for front and back. Follow those instructions, but adjust for length.
Yes Jan, the numbers refer to sts/rows per 4". I read that’s what the name of Mission Falls 1824 yarn means - 18 sts and 24 rows per 4".
