Using 2 sets of needles for stripes

i’ve looked around a bit but haven’t had luck finding this topic.

i’m not sure how to switch needles for the stripes:

[I]With MC and smaller needles[/I], CO 42 sts.
Stripe #1:
Work in garter stitch (knit every row) for 7 rows.
Next row (WS): Kf&b, to end of row–84 sts.
Stripe #2: [I]With CC and larger needles[/I], work 6 rows in St st (knit on RS, purl on WS).

the answer may be obvious, i’m new to this. but if anyone can help, i’d really appreciate it!

Once you have your 7 rows with MC, just start knitting with the new color and the larger needles. You’ll knit off the smaller ones onto the larger. Once you start, you’ll say, “OH, this is so easy!”
