Update on losing our jobs

well it is official. we have 2 wks left to work and then it is bye bye. The 10th of August is my last day and I hate it. I feel like I am a loser and somone just stuck a knife in my heart. Dawn:noway::wall::hair::cry::help::pout::waah:

:hug:I’m so sorry to hear. Hopefully this will be a blessing in disguise for you though!

so but my faith in the system and the lord are not very strong. I feel like I have let down my kids, myself, my parents, my whole family. Dawn

Don’t lose faith. God doesn’t close a door without opening another one.

I completely understand why you feel that way, but, I don’t believe you have let anyone down. Times are damn hard right now and you can’t blame yourself. If there’s one thing I know for sure it’s that things, somehow, have a way of working out even when it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Try to stay strong and hang in there, nothing lasts forever. I’ll be hoping for the best for you and your family.

I am not sure I can hold my head high. I am so depressed I could crawl under a rock and let the world go on with out me. Dawn

Don’t blame yourself! This is not your fault, and you didn’t let your family down.

I know how you feel, my job situation is better now but this spring it was very uncertain. I felt awful. But things will get better for you, as they did for me.

Hang in there, we’re here for you.  Please, take good care of yourself and come here anytime you need it.

Don’t feel that way. You haven’t let anyone down, and the Lord wouldn’t have let you lose this job in He didn’t intend to lead you to another (better) one.

Remember - “If God leads you to it, He’ll lead you through it.”

You are in my prayers.

Dawn–

it’s a tough economy right now. you didn’t get fired, you got downsized…big difference! like everyone else has said…have faith.

i’m great at helping people with resume’s…really! if you’d like me to review/help you with yours, i’d be more than happy to help. I’m a safety engineer by trade, and that involves lots of technical writing (never in evidence here, i just wanna relax!) but everyone i’ve ever helped with a resume has improved their employment position.

(in other words, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and let’s get to work!)

I’m sorry to hear about your job situation. It’s hard to be positive when the future looks so unsure. It’s not your fault and it would have happened no matter who had the job.
Best of luck in your next job and I hope it comes soon.

:hug::hug:

You are in my prayers!

You are NOT a loser!! God has just decided to put you on a new path. {{{HUGS}}} I’m so sorry to hear this and I wish you nothing but the best of luck in finding a new job.

Thank you all for the support and I will try to keep those things in mind but. I am a single parent and now I have no clue what to do from here.

look at it this way, it could be an oppertunity for you to do more with yourself. have you been wanting to go back to school? change career paths?

my dh was laid off in 2001, just after 9/11 when his boss lost over 3 million in the stock market. I went back to work (i’d been a full time stay at home mom), dh went back to school and got his computer certifications which led him on to getting a job he really wanted that would enable him to get his foot in the door working for the phone company and then time warner cable. He’s now still working at TWC and decided to go back for his bachelor’s degree in computers (he has an associate’s in broadcast communications)… he’ll graduate in january or february and is looking at going into teaching

there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, i promise it’s not a train

Dawn, since you were laid off, in most states you can get unemployment. That will help. Don’t know about where you live, but here the state has an office to help folks get ‘retraining’ after being laid off of one type of work. Maybe you could find something you really want to do.

But,as you’ve been working security, you can check that out, there are a ton of jobs listed in our papers for that type of work.

I lost a job when a company closed, it is rough, but you can come through this stronger.

Hi, I just lost my job too! Lets job hbunt together.
I am not a single mum, but i do have rent and bills to pay and because i am a full time student i can only work full time.

Dont worry Dawn, there are ways and meens out there. unfortunately emploment is quite tough at the moment but you will find somthing and there are things in place to help you and your family out. People know it is not your fault and dont blame you. Sadly it is onbe of those things that hapens sometimes. Hugs and love for you and your family.

 Your in my prayers!

 Aww, don’t feel like that. I am sure the reason to this was … Him leading you getting a better job.

Best of luck on your job hunt.

Be sure to use your network. It is easier to get in the door if you know someone that already works at the place. If you go to church, let people there know that you are looking for a job. Just keep your ears open. In 2001 I lost my job, because of the slow economy. It was tough. It took me months. Some companies move you up in pay after they see how valuable you are. Keep that in mind, before you turn down a lesser paying job. Don’t let yourself get depressed. I know so many people that have lost their jobs. It is a part of life.
